NEITHER WHITE NOR BLACK  (Anti-racist anthem)

After George Stinney passed away,

I scratched the complexion of your soul,

Looking for the colour of your love.

It was neither white nor black.

Kinta Kunte's eyes of liquid sorrow,

Witnessed with chained limbs,

The color of your laughter,

It was neither white nor black.

Now that Achebe's wit has mocked Conrad's soul,

And Soyinka on the Nobel stage has performed,

I dared intelligence to shine its rainbow,

It was neither white nor black.

Do we both not bleed red when we cut?

And to the sweet melody of a music give approval?

I have routed for the color riots in your emotions,

It was neither white nor black.

Ota Benga had no tail for the zoo in 1904.

Now that George Floyd no longer breathes,

I saw the color of your hate against my enshrined melanin.

It should be white, but it was neither white nor black.
